Important — In addition to NHS care
Consultations with Nurturing Midwife are a private service offered in addition to your routine NHS antenatal and postnatal care. They are not a replacement for the care provided by your NHS midwife, GP, obstetrician or any other healthcare professional. You should continue to attend all scheduled NHS appointments and contact your maternity unit, GP or 999 for any urgent or emergency concerns.
Scope of the service
Nurturing Midwife provides private, informational and supportive antenatal and postnatal consultations delivered online by an NMC registered midwife. Consultations are intended to inform, reassure and support — they do not include clinical examinations, prescribing, diagnosis or emergency care.
Booking and payment
- Payment is required in full at least 48 hours in advance to secure your appointment. Bookings are not confirmed until payment has been received.
- Booking details, including the secure video link, will be sent by email once payment is confirmed.
- The complimentary 20-minute introductory consultation does not require payment.
Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds
- Cancellations or rescheduling requests made more than 48 hours before the appointment are eligible for a full refund or a free reschedule.
- Cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment, or non-attendance, are non-refundable as the time has been reserved exclusively for you.
- In the rare event that Nurturing Midwife needs to cancel, you will be offered a full refund or a rescheduled appointment at a time that suits you.
Your responsibilities
- Please join your consultation from a private, quiet space with a reliable internet connection.
- Share accurate information so that guidance can be tailored to your circumstances.
- Continue to follow advice given by your NHS care providers and seek urgent medical help where appropriate.
Confidentiality and safeguarding
All consultations are confidential and conducted in line with NMC professional standards. Information will only be shared with third parties where required by law or where there is a serious safeguarding concern for you or your child.
Limitation of liability
Nurturing Midwife provides information and support based on current evidence and professional experience. Decisions about your care remain yours, made in conjunction with your NHS providers. Nurturing Midwife is not liable for outcomes arising from decisions made outside of the scope of the consultation.
